Lagos 2027: Youth Coalition Endorses Seyi Tinubu, Disputes Ayodele’s Prophecy

The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) has declared that Mr. Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, possesses the qualifications, competence, education, and experience needed to become the next Governor of Lagos State in 2027.

This assertion was made in a statement by CONYL’s President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, a copy of which was shared with newsmen on Thursday.

The statement was a response to a prediction by Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church. Ayodele, in a statement through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, claimed that Seyi Tinubu, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, and Gbenga Ashafa should abandon any aspirations for the Lagos governorship, predicting instead that Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the Principal Secretary to President Tinubu, would succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

CONYL criticized the cleric’s prediction, labeling it baseless and misleading. “We would have ignored Prelate Ayodele’s statement but decided to respond because of the gullible public and to set the records straight,” the coalition said.

The group emphasized Seyi Tinubu's suitability for the position, describing him as “well-educated, well-trained, highly experienced, and deeply loved by Lagosians.”

CONYL further accused Primate Ayodele of a history of false prophecies, citing his prediction during the 2023 presidential election that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would emerge victorious—a prophecy that failed as Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared the winner.

“We categorically state that Chief Seyi Tinubu is eligible, competent, and experienced to become the next Governor of Lagos State in 2027. Lagosians love him dearly and will elect him as their Governor,” the statement added.

The group urged the public to disregard Ayodele’s claims, maintaining that such predictions are unreliable.
